Wontons
In the Mood for Chinese Food?
1 pound ground pork, turkey or chicken (or any combination of)
3 scallions, finely minced
1 egg
1 cup finely shredded cabbage
1 can water chestnuts, drained and coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon Dom DeLuise Italian Blend
34 to 36 wonton wrappers
whole cabbage leaves to line steamer
Place pork, turkey or chicken in a large bowl. Add scallions, egg, shredded cabbage, water chestnuts, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic and sprinkle with Dom's Italian Blend. Mix with your hands to combine.
On a chopping block, place about 10 wonton wrappers out and brush the edges with water. Place about one tablespoon of pork mixture in the center of each wrapper. Gather edges of wrapper and fold over filling and press gently to seal together. Continue filling in groups of 10.
Line steamer with whole cabbage leaves and fill with wontons. Bring water to a simmer and steam wontons until thoroughly cooked, about 8 minutes. Continue steaming in batches.
Remove cooked wontons with tongs and serve hot with your favorite Chinese dipping sauces.
Dipping Sauce suggestions: Hoisin Sauce, Hot Chinese mustard, or Chinese chili sauce.

Joe Hodgey, Houston TX; My soups always turn out runny and thin. How can I thicken the broth so that my soups are heartier?
Answer: 1. Adding a potato to soup…and cooking long enough so that it "melts" into the soup broth will thicken the broth naturally.
2. Cooking with the lid OFF helps thicken also because the liquid evaporates and the soup becomes thicker.
3. Another way to thicken soup is to whisk together flour and water so it isn't lumpy and then add the mixture to the soup.
