Fun After School Snacks

So, the kids are back to school! Does your child come home from school hungry?

Try creative snacks like mini sandwiches made from whole wheat bread, lunchmeat and cheese. Use a couple of miniature cookie cutters to make tiny shaped sandwiches.

Pizza can be a perfectly healthy snack. Start with a whole wheat pita or a tortilla as the crust. Smear on a bit of tomato sauce, and top with low fat mozzarella cheese, and hopped vegetables. Heat for a few minutes then cut the pizza into teeny-tiny triangles for extra kid-appeal.

And remember Kids love anything they can dip! Carrot and celery sticks, cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes will disappear if there's a tub of dip to go with them. Make ranch dressing using low fat ingredients, or make a batch of nutritious hummus, bean dip or salsa.

Now what kid wouldn't love that?
