Remove Pet Urine Odor

Question?

My dogs have urinated in my house, and I want to get rid of the odor. I heard about a cleaner developed by the US Army – what is it and would it work for my problem?

Lynn, Santa Rosa CA

Answer!

The product you’re talking about is called Neutroleum Alpha, and while it is suitable for getting rid of many odors, including skunk spray, pet urine creates other problems you’ll have to deal with. Because of the bacteria left by pets, you may have to remove and replace affected areas such as the carpet, pad and underlayment and/or subfloor. Any cleaning of such areas would only temporarily mask such bacterial odors. If you want to order Neutroleum Alpha, contact the USDA supply depot in Pocatello ID at 208-236-6920.
