Replacement Parts

Question?

What source is there for replacement plumbing fixtures (i.e., faucets) for a 75-year-old house?

Ray

Answer!

If the faucets can be repaired, try plumbing supply houses for faucet stem repair kits. You might want to look at some books on restoring Victorian and other turn of the century homes. The will discuss faucet repairs.

The following titles should help:

  • "Rehab Right" by Helain Kaplan Prentice, City of Oakland.

  • "The Motts Illustrated Catalogue of Victorian Plumbing Fixtures for Bathrooms and Kitchens" by J.L. Mott Iron Works, published by Dover.

And one for working with old plumbing entitled:

  • "The Straight Poop," by Peter Hemp, published by 10 Speed Press in Berkeley.
