Tip of the Day On The House with the Carey Bros.

Cleaning Soap Scum

Cleaning nasty soap scum easily can be done by applying hot white vinegar.

Back in ancient Rome public baths were a big thing until 128 AD when the emperor halted bathing because public baths were getting too messy. Today, nearly 2000 years later, bathing still is messy, but we've learned a few tricks along the way to keep our tubs and shower doors sparkling clean. For cleaning nasty soap scum, use hot white vinegar. Heat it on the stove or in the microwave. Apply it with a scrub brush or scouring pad. Kerosene works well too. You also can make a paste of cream of tartar and hydrogen peroxide. Wear rubber gloves and have plenty of ventilation. When you're done, rub bathtubs with lemon oil and shower doors with car wax to prevent recurring buildups. And that's the On The House tip for today.
