Dishwasher Vs. Hand Washing

Some things you should know about which saves more H20!

We're here in Athens at the summer Olympic Games for today's household dishwashing competition, where athletes compete to see who can get dishes clean using the least amount of water. First up is Helga Bovine-a-vich of slob-o-via, who is using the 'traditional? hand-washing method. As she gets underway, Martina Smar-te? of France begins pre-rinsing before loading her sleek euro-dishwasher. In lane three, Susie Homemaker of the USA simply loads her dishwasher and turns it on. Three distinct styles...this is a hard one to predict! Conservation-wise, Helga takes the lead, but her water meter is spinning wildly! So is Martina's (due to pre-rinsing), while Susie's turns at a far slower pace. Finishing, Helga shuts off her faucet at 30 gallons. Right behind her, Martina's machine and pre-rinse total 20 gallons, and Susie homemaker's machine-only wash used an amazing record-breaking 7.2 gallons! It's a gold-medal performance by today's new generation of automatic dishwashers!
