Polyurethane Treatment

I have an oak floor which was refinished about eight years ago. It is still in good shape but I am wondering if it would be prudent to apply two additional coats of polyurethane over the existing finish to extend its life?


Absolutely yes, assuming polyurethane was the finish that was used originally. It is not uncommon to see hardwood floors refinished as often as every few years depending on traffic. The finish is what protects the wood and keeps it looking new. A light 220-grit sanding followed by one, two or three coats of finish is a great idea provided the new finish material matches the one that was previously used.
