Summer is officially here with the Memorial Day Weekend! Time to be outside, enjoying the sun and our yards!  White clothes and bright flowers are my favorite part of summer; a big energy bill is not!  It’s time to take a good look at how energy efficient and water wise we all are. Be aware; see how much energy and water you can save.

Take some time to look through this month's edition of the On The House Express.  We have our “picks” from the National Hardware Show, House Pets with Sandy Robins, the June Maintenance To Do List and everything you need to keep your home & garden enjoyable all season long ~ its all right here at On The House!

Tips To Be Careful Around BBQ’s

Memorial Day means summer and the BBQ season is around the corner.
Pets enjoy a BBQ with friends and family because it means lots of socializing and of attention.  It also means they will probably enjoy food served at the BBQ too.

However, its important to remember that people food is for people and pet food is for pets. And while no-one is going to admonish a guest for feeding a little piece of chicken or steak around the grill, its really very important to keep an eye on pets to ensure that they don't help themselves to items which could in fact be very dangerous.

June Home Maintenance Time!

With the warmer weather here, it's time to tackle those projects that will keep your home in tiptop condition and looking great for many years to come! So gather up your soap, hose, broom, paint, and caulking….. let's get going!

Clean and seal decks. Ideally, you'll need three consecutive warm, sunny days. On day one, dry out the deck. Apply deck cleaner and scrub the deck on the second day and let it dry 24 hours. On the third day, apply deck sealer and remember to buy the best quality sealer you can afford! And, don't forget to repair wobbly handrails to prevent a serious fall!
