FOOTBALL SEASON PROJECTS TO TACKLE
Is your home ready for football season? If you don’t understand what your home and football season have in common you may wish to read on. By the way, even if you don’t care for football – Heaven forbid — the following check list may help you save money and headaches.
Have you checked to insure that your home theatre system is in order? You may want to consider the following:

  • There are two elements that can severely damage your TV and it peripheral devices and they include dust and heat:
    • Dust – use your vacuum cleaner and/or canned air to insure that your TV and its components are dust free. Dust can short out a circuit board and damage knobs and levers.
    • Heat – some refer to the latest and greatest as “hot” stuff. Nothing could be worse for an electronic device than to be enclosed in a cabinet without ventilation. This condition alone can diminish the life of a DVD player by 75 percent or more. Make sure that all electronic components are WELL ventilated.
Once you have made sure that you will be able to make it to the super bowl without a TV glitch you may also want to service your refrigerator. Nothing goes better with football than an ice cold beer and chips. So, if you want to be sure that you have the coldest beer – or sodas – ready to go at all times vacuum the cooling coils (usually found at the back of the refrigerator). Also, check the gasket at the door. If it is cracked or flattened purchase and install a new one. These maintenance steps will allow your refrigerator to become colder without touching the temperature regulator. In other words, you will be getting what you pay for while you watch the game. Who knew?
